The Inner West

The Inner West is the metropolitan area located directly to the west of Sydney’s CBD.  While not a precise region it’s suburbs are largely located along the southern shore of the Parramatta River and stretch south to the Cooks River. Its suburbs start at Glebe and head out towards Concord, back down to Hurlstone Park and back in to around Newtown.

The area contains mostly medium to high density housing. It is dominated by character Victorian era terraces, brick and weatherboard cottages, and many unit blocks.

One of the appeals of the Inner West is a vibrant city lifestyle with numerous cafes and restaurants. Local shopping areas like King St Newtown & Darling St Balmain are popular as well as the local parks. Transport is good to the city via train, light rail and bus. Riverside suburbs are served by ferry.

The Inner West is generally more affordable than the Eastern Suburbs and North Shore, however has seen substantial recent price growth and gentrification.
